An oculoplastic surgeon, formally an oculofacial plastic surgeon, is an ophthalmologist who completed a 2-year ASOPRS-approved fellowship in eyelid, orbit, tear duct and facial surgery after an ophthalmology residency. Plastic surgeons, facial plastic surgeons, cosmetic surgeons and general ophthalmologists also operate on eyelids, each certified by a different board.
