Eyelid surgery work

• Upper blepharoplasty (cosmetic). Removes excess skin, muscle and/or fat from the upper eyelid. Dr. Hellman evaluates the eyelid crease and brow position during consultation and may recommend combining with crease elevation or an endoscopic brow lift (upper-lid-blepharoplasty).
• Upper blepharoplasty (functional). When excess skin (dermatochalasis) causes superior visual field loss, the surgery is classified functional and covered by insurance (functional-upper-lid-blepharoplasty).
• Lower blepharoplasty. Transconjunctival approach (incision on the back of the eyelid); fat pads removed or transposed into the tear trough; may be combined with CO2 laser resurfacing, skin excision or canthopexy.
